PLANTAIN CHIPS RECIPE
Plantain chips are Nigerian snacks made with either ripe or unripe plantain.
WHAT IS PLANTAIN?
Plantains are cooking bananas whose fruits are generally used in cooking.
They are naturally starchy and can be eaten ripe or unripe.

INGREDIENTS
° One bunch of Ripe/unripe plantain containing 5/6 plantains.
°1 tbsp of salt
° 1/2 tbsp of sugar
° 1/2 tbs of pepper
° 1 ball of onion( used for deep frying)
° One bunch of Ripe/unripe plantain containing 5/6 plantains.

DIRECTION
1. Wash and peel plantains.
2. Slice the plantains thinly into a bowl.
3.When done slicing, transfer plantain slices into a flat tray and spread a little with hands so the plantains occupy the whole tray.
4. Sprinkle salt, sugar and pepper on the plantain slices and mix together.
5. Pour vegetable oil into a deep pot/pan and add a washed ball of whole onion into the oil. Leave to heat up.
6. Once oil becomes hot, Put the slices of plantain into the oil in such a way that they are not stuck together.
Stir till the plantains chips are bright yellow( dark yellow if using ripe plantain)
7. Transfer plantain slices to a sieve lines with paper towel, to absorb most of the excess oil.
8. store plantain chips in an airtight container or serve with chilled soft drink.
