THE PERFECT BOILED YAM RECIPE

Yam is in the class of roots and tubers that is a staple of the Nigeria and West African diet, which provides some 200 calories of energy per capita daily.
Yam can be prepared in various ways,  it can be fried, used as yam pottage and also boiled.  But which ever ways it still maintains its amazing taste.
INGREDIENTS
° 1 Yam tuber.
° 3 tbsp salt.
° 2 tbsp sugar(optional).
SERVINGS: 6.
TOTAL TIME: 30 minutes.
PREP TIME: 10 minutes.
COOKING: 20 minutes.
DIRECTION
1. Peel yam using a knives. afterwards,  wash yam peels thoroughly with water( be careful so the yam water doesn't  splash on any part of your skin,  otherwise it would  itch a lot.  But in case it does happen rinse the affected area of the skin,  dry it and apply palm oil to it.)
2.Place yam in a deep pot/pan and add enough water to cover the yam, put salt and sugar and close lid to boil for about 20 minutes.
3. When the yam is soft( not too soft)
Drain the water out to avoid the yam peels  from getting too soft.
4.Serve yam with tomatoes sauce/palmoil/ vegetable oil etc.
